Madness, a UK group, formed in 1976 by Mike Barson (born 21/4/1958, London, keyboards), ‘Chrissie Boy’ Foreman (born 8/8/1958, London, guitar), Lee ‘Kix’ Thompson (born 5/10/1957, London, saxophone/vocals), John Hasler (drums), Chas Smash (born Cathal Smyth, 14/1/1959, London, horns) Suggs (born Graham McPherson, 13/1/1961, Hastings, vocals), Bedders (born Mark Bedford, 24/8/1961, London, bass) and Dan ‘Woody’ Woodgate (born 19/10/1960, London, drums), originally as ‘The Invaders’.
They launched the Zarjazz label in 1984. Suggs later recorded solo and became a TV presenter. The group re-formed in 1999.
