UK group formed in 1976 by Adam-Ant (born Stuart Leslie Goddard, 3/11/1954, London, vocals) The original line-up was poached by Malcolm McLaren to form Bow Wow Wow. Adam putting together Marco Pirroni (born 27/4/1959, London), Kevin Mooney, Terry Lee Miall (born 8/11/1958, London) and Merrick (born Chris Hughes, 3/3/1954) as replacement. Ant disbanded them in 1982, retaining Pirroni as co-writer for his solo career. In 1985 Ant moved to the US to pursue acting, returning to the UK in 1990 to revive his musical career. Kings of the Wild Frontier was named Best Album at the inaugural BRIT Awards ot 1982. Hughes became a successful producer with Tears For Fears.
